With the school, being situated in a ghetto area, the security and safety of the children, staff and buildings is of the utmost importance! The construction of a wall around the school is vital to address this situation. The wall is also needed before we can continue and start other projects like; Water for Life, a dairy-cow, chickens and a vegetable garden.
The lenght of the wall is 1 kilometre by 2.5 metre high fitted with barbed wire and a 1.2 metre deep by 1 metre wide foundation. This solid foundation is necessary with regard to landslides during the rainy seasons. The construction of the wall is very expensive because the cement needs to be made with fresh water. The groundwater is brackish because Mombasa is located at the seaside.
The first metre is sponsored by a grandmother in England. Who will follow her?
