Nutrition

Worldwide, malnutrition is the cause of death for nearly 45% of children under 5 years old

It is essential that the children at the school have enough food, milk and fruit and sufficient clean drinking water to support a healthy life. Our objective is to provide the children with 2 to 3 meals a day and addition to supporting the children’s dietary requirements, we have employed 2 local cooks.

Shamba (Vegetable garden)

Shamba (Vegetable garden) "Shamba" agricultural project, a large vegetable garden within the school that generate a constant source of fresh food. By expanding the Shamba we can provide the children with an even better and more balanced diet. At the same time, the Shamba acts as an additional educational project where the students learn about different farming methods and irrigation. This is especially important as 75% of the Kenyan population is dependent on agriculture. To support this project we have employed a local agricultural expert.

Access to water and sanitation is a vital human right

Worldwide, more than two billion people still lack access to clean drinking water and sanitation. According to the latest WHO report, only one in four people in Africa has access to safe drinking water while access to water and sanitation is a right recognized by the international community.

Thanks to your donations, we have been able to invest in water tanks to collect rainwater. This water is used for showers, flushing toilets, cleaning and the agricultural project. In addition, thanks to the generosity of one of the sponsors, the school receives 4,000 litres of clean drinking water every week.
